Let's face it, we all love free advertising for our web sites.
The only problem is free advertising is pretty hard to come
by, and rarely works that well.
However there is a vastly underused free marketing technique
that works like a brand new rolex for anyone clever enough
to try it. It is called viral marketing. And the beauty of it is you can have a viral marketing campaign up and running by the end of today!
The easiest way to explain how viral marketing works is to give you an example. Take an example like Hotmail. Hotmail is a company that offers free e-mail. You get on there and you sign up. It’s free of charge, and you have an e-mail address.
The way they make money is through selling advertising
on that site. Then people who use the e-mail addresses are
forced, in some cases, to view that advertising. It’s peppered all
over the place. The way they use viral marketing is, every time
you send out an e-mail message using that address, at the very
bottom there is a marketing message that says “Sign Up For
Your Own Free E-Mail Address At Hotmail.com.”
This means that every time an email is sent out by someone with a hotmail address hotmail are getting free marketing for their site.
Viral marketing is very powerful, and it is at literally no
cost. You are letting your customers do it for you. Now, if you
tie that in with e-books, it can be a very powerful way to sell
information on the Internet.
Let’s say, for example, that you create an e-book on
whatever topic. Instead of selling that e-book, why not give it
away free of charge? Why not give it to other web sites and ezine publishers to give to their clients for free. And include full giveaway rights for everyone who gets the book.
I know what you're thinking - How does that make YOU money? Quite simply you put a link inside the ebook back to your web site. Here you will be selling your service or product.
Now think about it. If an ezine publisher with 80,000 subscribers sent your ebook to his list, that 80,000 would then take a look at your ebook and see your advertising message. That 80,000 would also be able to pass on your ebook to people on their list and so on.
What happens is over time more and more people pick up your ebook and more and more see your advertising message. Your ebook spreads like a virus over the internet and you get a ton of free traffic without lifting a finger!
All you have done is created a 20-40 page ebook, sent an email to site owners and ezine publishers giving them the rights to offer the ebook to their lists for free, and then sat back and watched a cash avalanche as people do all your marketing for you!
Make sure your viral ebook has good quality information in it. If the ebook is poor no one will pick it up and send it to their lists.
Using the power of viral marketing, tied in with the with the power of e-books, you can spread your message and spread your information all across the lnternet and pull people back to your web site, and back to products that you want to sell for top dollar. It’s a great way to market, and it’s free because you’re letting other people do the marketing for you and giving them a taste of your information at the same time.
