Make Paypal Payments Without Signing up for an Account

by: Mike Hostick

PayPal has optimised the checkout experience with an exciting improvement to their payment flow for business and premier account holders.

Anyone online seller who has explored the prospect of accepting payment by credit card knows it can be very complicated and expensive to set up. As an alternative, many sellers have incorporated Paypal payments into their websites. This is a much cheaper option and is easy to set-up. Until now, a major limitation that has probably resulted in fewer completed transactions is that buyers have been required to sign up for a paypal account in order to complete their purchase. This has changed. For new buyers, signing up for a PayPal account is now optional. This means that customers can complete their payments first, and then decide whether to save their information in a PayPal account for future purchases. This makes the checkout more convenient, resulting in more completed sales and satisfied customers.

Best of all, this upgrade requires no action on the sellers part. The checkout automatically applies to Website Payment tools like Buy Now Buttons, Donations and PayPal Shopping Basket, as well as the Request Money and PayPal Invoicing features. These changes do not yet apply to ebay sales.

Here's how this easier checkout works:

Customers enter their name and postal address.

They're prompted for their credit card, email address and phone number.

(Optional) After reviewing their information, they can choose to save their information by creating a PayPal account to make future transactions faster.

PayPal's fraud prevention measures remain in effect for buyers who use this checkout. PayPal applies the same techniques for this checkout as it does for other transactions.
