Top Five Tips to Get More Customers in a Month than In A Year

by: Monique Hawkins

All online and offline small business owners have the same goal. What is this goal? The goal is to continue to efficiently serve their current customer base and to obtain new customers. How is this done? Through marketing a product or service. Unfortunately, most small business owners fail miserably in this area. Is there any hope for them? Yes! Any small business owner, no matter the business, can become a marketing guru by using these top five tips.

Tip #1: Effectively Market the Small Business

A small business owner can have a great product or service, but if no one knows about it, the business will die! No matter the product or service a small business provides, effective marketing has to be the top priority. It should always be remembered that the best marketer wins.

Tip #2: People's Attention Must Be Captured

How can this be done? By putting out fancy brochures? By having a fancy website? How about sharing with people that your company has been in business for the past 100 years? The answer: a resounding NO! People do not care about any of those types of things. Their attention is captured by a captivating headline, telling of an interesting story, offering a take action incentive, and making it easy for them to do so. Do this on a consistent basis and the small business owner will be amazed at the results.

Tip #3: Have A Captivating Yellow Pages Ad

Boring Yellow Pages Ads Don't work. Most ads look like sales pitches and as a result, people will pay them no attention. A hot headline is a must. An effective ad will get people to call a small business owner instead of the owner having to cold call them!

Tip #4: Only Market to People Who Are Already Interested

Why in the world would any small business owner market to people who are highly unlikely to buy anyway? It is a huge waste of money! Only target people who love to buy a particular product or service a small business provides.

Tip #5: Answer Customers' Basic Question

All advertising must answer one basic question. What is the question? It is? "What is in it for me"? If the ad's headline and topic convey this, it makes it much easier for people to respond. Always make sure this crucial question is answered.

The above 5 tips are only a small sample of numerous creative and effective marketing strategies a small business owner can implement. Utilizing these 5 tips can put a small business owner a head of 95% of their competition.
